Our Vision

Our Vision of the Quad

The Quad is the central focus of a campus.

Think about the manicured landscape providing openness and a collegiate feel that attract students to the school.  Think about the pathways offering flexibility so students can get to where they need to go.  The trees lend protection, comfort, and strength for students.   Surrounding the Quad are the prestigious buildings that provide knowledge, organization, and structure.  Everything associated with the Quad is there for the good of the students.

Often, we find facilities or the landscape team working on the Quad, cutting the grass, trimming trees, changing lights, or picking up litter.   All these tasks are for the good of the students.

While their services are visible to students daily, administrative services on campus should be behind the scenes and not visible to students.   The support tasks, for the good of the students, are delivered continuously on the outskirts of the Quad.

It is important that the prestigious buildings lining the quad are not facades.   The Quad's value is diminished without students who take advantage of the landscape, pathways, trees, and buildings.  A quad without students studying, lounging, and interacting is often a wasteful piece of prime land on campus.

While this goal is documented in vision and mission statements at every institution, day to day operations do not always blend with this core belief ... and that is where Quad Collaborative wants to work together to help colleges and universities.

“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character –– that is the goal of true education.”

- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
